Digital Pali Reader

Just a note that I've upgraded the DPR to version 3.0. The new version has the entire tipitaka and most commentaries. Download it from Sourceforge.net at:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=164784&package_id=186684&release_id=540551

You can post bug report here too.

The Digital Pali Reader won't work on Opera because it does not support Active-X.

I am making my own reader using plain HTML with well-organised bookmarks and anchors.

One thing you might like to try is replacing the variant readings (which are shown in a separate footnote window in the CSCD Tipitaka) with tooltips and inline image tags. I find this is less intrusive than using (coloured text).

Bhante,

Thanks for testing the reader. The problem with opera is that it uses a non-standard method for loading xml files. Firefox doesn't use ActiveX either. The script for making Opera load xml files is something like:

xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();

but I'm using document.implementation method, as well as an optional ActiveX for IE. I'll see what I can do...

About the variant readings, i suppose i could follow your sugestion. i like the variant readings, but you may be right about being intrusive.

Dear Bhante,

I send this question in a mail to you, but after that came across this forum and maybe it is better if you answer here, for sake of others.
So, in DPR when pali word is clicked on it's color turns into some pale yellow and is not readable. My question is, of course, is it possible to modify some DPR file to set this color into some darker version.

Many thanks for DPR and the answer.

Metta,

Check out the Chattha Sangayana Tipitaka 4.

Frank Snow has put the footnotes inline, but included an option to turn them off. That seems like a good solution.
